Professional Association Forum

On August 25, 2022, Kenya Healthcare Federation hosted the first KHF Professional Associations Forum. This was an initiative of the KHF’s Partnerships Committee aimed to bring together leadership from various Health Professionals Associations to discuss how we can continue to collaborate and offer value through KHF activities. Kenya Council of Emergency Medical Technicians was represented by the Chairperson-Eunice Wanjiku, Secretary -Francis Mutunga and Treasurer-Paul Wachiuri.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Anne Musuva, Chair, KHF Partnerships Committee, welcomed all the Health Professionals Associations for attending this forum. She also introduced the Health Professionals Associations’ Leaders to the Corporate Scholarship Scheme under UNICAF University.

Samson Kithika, Business Development Manager, UNICAF Kenya made a presentation on the Corporate Scholarship Scheme. He highlighted that the UNICAF Corporate Scholarship Scheme enables company employees to study for internationally recognized degree programmes offered by reputable partner universities in the UK and Africa, with a guaranteed 75% scholarship for Bachelor and Master’s degrees, and 70% scholarship for Doctoral degrees.

The Scheme will provide a platform for UNICAF to deliver Academic and Professional Development Programmes to the KHF Members including Health Professionals Associations with the aim of making health education affordable and accessible to the health sector fraternity.

Furthermore, the forum was opened to all the Health Professionals Associations to share their insights to discuss how KHF can continue to collaborate and offer value to its Members through KHF activities moderated by Dr. Kanyenje Gakombe, chair, Dr. Anastasia Nyalita, CEO and Dr. Linus Ndegwa, Director, Kenya Healthcare Federation.

These discussions revolved around; strengthening research and innovation, relationships with the Council of Governors, involvement with more corporate schemes and regulatory bodies, health manifesto for the incoming Government, Mental Health Awareness among other issues.

John Kamau, Vice Chair, Partnership Committee gave the closing remarks and a vote of thanks to the UNICAF University for partnering with KHF and all the Health Professionals Associations among other stakeholders who attended at the first KHF Professional Associations Forum and made it a worthwhile forum.
