Kisumu

WORD FROM THE CHAIRMAN:

Allow me to welcome you to KISUMU/WESTERN KENYA EMS

Five years ago today, the first seeds of standardized professional Emergency Medical Services were planted in Kisumu and the entire Western Kenya region as a whole.   From the original TWO EMTS, an EMT Operator and a Clinical Officer cum EMT, the EMS community has experienced tremendous growth in terms of creating EMS awareness to the general public and expanding as well as empowering EMS personnel through training.

In 2014, the first ever EMT training in Western Kenya was conducted by Avenue Rescue Services at the Avenue Hospital. The former is a KCEMT-certified EMS training center.

From this pioneer class, the EMT population has grown to over 50 Members in the last three years. This has greatly contributed to the rapid growth of EMS in the region and neighboring counties. Presently, some members are scattered in the surrounding regions where they are formally employed, mostly in private and public healthcare institutions.

In April 2016, the Branch was formally inaugurated with the election of a Branch Secretariat.

We're wholeheartedly committed towards achieving our long term goal of ensuring the entire region is evenly covered by EMS personnel to realize our vision of taking safe, efficient and professional EMS services to every corner of the region and country as a whole.

Honest and selfless service to humanity through EMS is our goal.

Best wishes,

Julius Nyandieka,

Chairman,

KCEMT Kisumu/Western Kenya Branch
